Pharmacy Technician II

As a Pharmacy Technician II - Sterile Medication Specialist at Upstate University Hospital, you will play a crucial role in preparing sterile and non-sterile medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your focus will be on sterile medications, including non-hazardous and hazardous preparations. You will also be responsible for maintaining medication inventory and assisting Clinical Pharmacists in monitoring patients. Additionally, you will process Controlled Substances and troubleshoot Automated Dispensing Cabinet related problems. This position requires the ability to combine order processing efficiency with accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must meet one of the following minimum qualifications:
- NYS pharmacy technician license and National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification plus 6 months of pharmacy technician experience, and NYS pharmacy technician license within 6 months. *Candidates who are not licensed will be on a temporary appointment until license is received.
- Associates Degree OR NYS licensed/registered LPN OR 1 year of pharmacy technician experience (or successful completion of a military or other accredited pharmacy technician training program). Will be required to receive the National Pharmacy Technician Certification within 18 months of hire and NYS pharmacy technician license within 6 months of national certification. *Candidates who are not licensed will be on a temporary appointment until license is received.
Preferred Qualifications:
Hospital experience is preferred, as is previous sterile compounding experience.
Work Days:
Rotating shifts are required for this position.
