Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, this position will prepare sterile and non-sterile medications with a focus on sterile medications, including non-hazardous and hazardous medications. The successful candidate will be responsible for storing and maintaining medication inventory, assisting clinical pharmacists in monitoring patients, processing controlled substances, and troubleshooting automated dispensing cabinet-related problems. This role requires the ability to combine order processing efficiency with accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • NYS pharmacy technician license and National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification plus 6 months of pharmacy technician experience, and NYS pharmacy technician license within 6 months. Candidates who are not licensed will be on a temporary appointment until license is received.
  • Associates Degree or NYS licensed/registered LPN or 1 year of pharmacy technician experience (or successful completion of a military or other accredited pharmacy technician training program). Will be required to receive the National Pharmacy Technician Certification within 18 months of hire and NYS pharmacy technician license within 6 months of national certification. Candidates who are not licensed will be on a temporary appointment until license is received.
Preferred Qualifications:

Hospital experience is preferred, as is previous sterile compounding experience.

Work Schedule:

Rotating shifts.
