Position Overview: Survey Field Operations Supervisor

The Survey Field Operations Supervisor plays a critical role in utilizing advanced surveying instruments such as GPS, total stations, and data collectors to accurately determine property boundaries and elevations for various surveying projects. This position requires outdoor work throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions, and involves physical activities including lifting weights up to 70 pounds with assistance.

Work Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work during peak seasons. Employees commence their workday from home, utilizing a company vehicle.

Service Areas

The role primarily services the state of Maryland, with a preference for candidates residing in specific counties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage tasks assigned by the Field Manager to ensure projects are completed accurately and on time.
  • Download and upload survey data to designated files in the computer network or field data collector.
  • Mark measurement points with appropriate identifiers.
  • Clear brush and trees from survey lines as necessary.
  • Maintain the quality of field data and perform basic calculations to support survey completion.
  • Oversee the maintenance of equipment and vehicles, ensuring all necessary tools and supplies are available.
  • Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures.
  • Address customer inquiries and issues professionally and promptly.
  • Foster effective working relationships with colleagues, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform all assigned duties in a safe, ethical, and professional manner.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience in the surveying field is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license with a driving record that meets insurance criteria.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical operations and an understanding of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
  • Ability to operate necessary surveying instruments effectively.
  • Familiarity with job-related software and cloud-based solutions.
