The Area Superintendent (AS) is tasked with overseeing and managing a specific segment of the project. This position is crucial for the efficient coordination and execution of all field management functions, ensuring that project objectives concerning timeline, budget, safety, quality, and workforce development are achieved. The AS will lead a team of field engineers and work in conjunction with craft supervision and trade partners to uphold exceptional standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision, mentorship, and leadership to the workforce within the designated project area, cultivating a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage field construction operations to guarantee smooth execution, collaborating closely with trade partners to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Facilitate weekly scheduling and management meetings with trade partners to ensure project alignment and address any challenges.
  • Implement site-specific safety protocols and best practices, ensuring compliance across all work areas. Collaborate with foremen to create and review Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and Safety Task Analyses (STAs) for all self-performed tasks, as well as reviewing those of trade partners.
  • Contribute to project scheduling efforts, managing the four-week look-ahead schedule for the assigned area to ensure timely project completion.
  • Maintain precise cost and production records, aiding in the development of site utilization and material handling strategies within the assigned area.
  • Work alongside project and office engineers to ensure timely procurement and handling of materials, verifying that received materials meet both quantity and quality standards, and that appropriate documentation is submitted to the jobsite administrator.
  • Oversee all quality control measures within the assigned project area, ensuring compliance with both company and trade partner standards to deliver a superior product.
  • Manage the punch list process to ensure timely project closeout and owner acceptance.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with the project owner, architects, engineers, and trade partners, ensuring high standards of customer service and satisfaction are maintained.
  • Actively engage in project coordination meetings, contributing to pre-planning and scheduling activities to ensure the seamless integration of coordination efforts.
  • Assist BIM and VDC engineers in driving timely issue resolution to keep the submittal process on track.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
  • A minimum of 5-6 years of experience in large commercial construction projects.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, including Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), Prolog, Primavera, and the AutoDesk Suite.
