Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our Faculty Group Practice in Astoria, working on a PER DIEM basis. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing medically prescribed nuclear medicine procedures, working under general direction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate hospital and radiology information systems, accessing patient information and following HIPPA regulations.
  • Effectively assess patient information and status, following standard procedures to identify the correct patient.
  • Independently implement patient procedures, explaining the procedure and equipment to the patient, and maintaining an ongoing rapport to ease anxiety.
  • Prepare radiopharmaceutical doses, verifying labels and calculating activity remaining and activity needed for procedures.
  • Perform imaging procedures, analyzing data acquired and reporting results to physicians for interpretation.
  • Assist physicians as needed during procedures, using efficient methods and completing examinations in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Maintain cleanliness of procedure areas, preparing equipment and supplies in advance for future exams.
  • Recognize medical emergencies and notify nurse, PA, and/or MD immediately.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field.
  • Completion of a Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) recognized nuclear medicine technology program.
  • Eligible to take certification exam in Nuclear Medicine by either the NMTCB or The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • New York State License (Nuclear Medicine).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a Bachelors Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $57.45 Hourly.
