We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. As a key member of our faculty group practice, you will be responsible for performing medically prescribed nuclear medicine procedures and working under general direction.
Key Responsibilities- Operate hospital and radiology information systems, ensuring accurate patient information and HIPAA compliance.
- Assess patient information and status, following established procedures to ensure accurate and efficient care.
- Implement patient procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards, prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
- Verify radiopharmaceutical vials, calculate activity, and dispense radioactive gas, ensuring accurate dosing and patient safety.
- Perform imaging procedures, analyzing data and reporting results to physicians for interpretation.
- Assist physicians as needed, using efficient methods to complete examinations and maintain a clean and organized procedure area.
- Implement non-imaging procedures, collecting body fluid specimens and processing them according to standard industry practice.
- Prepare radiopharmaceuticals, following manufacturer specifications and ensuring accurate dosing and patient safety.
- Dispose of radioactive waste according to department policies and procedures, adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform quality control procedures, evaluating imaging system performance and maintaining quality control records.
- Document all required records, including dose preparation and administration, radioactive material receipt, and waste disposal.
- Associates Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field.
- Completion of a Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) recognized program.
- Eligibility to take certification exam in Nuclear Medicine by NMTCB or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- New York State License (Nuclear Medicine) required.
- Completion of a Bachelors Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field.
- Effective communication skills, with ability to work with all levels of the organization.
