We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate to join our team at the University of Manchester. The successful candidate will work with an international team of Quaternary Scientists, Physical Geographers, and Archaeologists on a research project funded by the Leverhulme Trust.

The Research Associate will be based in the Department of Geography, School of Environment, Education and Development, and will have the opportunity to work with a range of colleagues, including Dr Abi Stone and Professor Mark Bateman. The role will involve conducting research in the Luminescence Laboratory at the University of Sheffield and participating in fieldwork in the Namib Sand Sea in Namibia.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Quaternary Science, Physical Geography, or Archaeology, and will have excellent research and analytical skills. They will also have excellent communication and teamwork skills, and will be able to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Conducting research in the Luminescence Laboratory at the University of Sheffield
  • Participating in fieldwork in the Namib Sand Sea in Namibia
  • Working with an international team of Quaternary Scientists, Physical Geographers, and Archaeologists
  • Developing and implementing research projects
  • Analyzing and interpreting research data
