Job Summary

Duke Health is seeking a skilled Financial Care Counselor to join our Patient Revenue Management Organization (PRMO). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of patient accounts, while providing exceptional customer service to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze insurance coverage and benefits to ensure timely and accurate billing.
  • Obtain authorizations and document billing system as required.
  • Explain bills and provide assistance to patients and visitors.
  • Calculate and apply PRMO credit and collection policies.
  • Implement cash payments and reconcile daily necessity of third-party sponsorship.
  • Obtain prior authorization certifications and facilitate payment sources for uninsured patients.
  • Admit, register, and pre-register patients with accurate demographic and financial data.
  • Resolve insurance claim rejections and denials in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate diagnoses to ensure compliance with Local Medicare Review Policy.
  • Perform other duties necessary to ensure accurate and efficient account processing.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience in hospital service access, clinical service access, physician office, or billing and collections.
  • Associate's degree in a healthcare-related field and one year of experience working with the public.
  • Bachelor's degree and one year of experience working with the public.
