Accounting Faculty Position

The College of Southern Maryland invites applications for a full-time Accounting faculty position on our Leonardtown, MD campus. This is an opportunity to use your knowledge, education, and expertise to make a difference by helping to prepare students for entry-level positions in Accounting and gain the necessary skills to obtain an in-demand job. Our faculty serve a vital role in growing our community, regional, and national workforce needs.
Responsibilities- Teach 30 credits of courses per contract year in the Accounting Program and Business discipline
- Teach a range of courses that may include morning, day, evening, or online
- Design assignments that incorporate students' program of study and connect to the Accounting Program
- Engage students in their learning through active and collaborative learning approaches
- Meet with students outside of class to assist them with being successful college students
- Incorporate culturally relevant pedagogies into the teaching and learning process
- Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret information
- Demonstrated ability to deliver instruction to diverse student populations, with varied levels of learning and preparation
- Knowledge and use of student engagement strategies that support completion and student success goals
- Demonstrated experience providing feedback students can use to improve their performance
- Maintain an ongoing program of professional development and participate in professional organizations, workshops, seminars, conferences and activities
- Mastery of appropriate computer operation skills
- Master's degree in Accounting or closely related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in Accounting coursework
- CPA license, preferred
- One year of instructional experience is preferred
- Two years of professional experience in the Accounting field
- Experience in tax preparation, preferred
- Ability to use word processing, basic internet applications, and basic database navigation
- Ability to use an educational enterprise, learning management system such as Brightspace (D2L) to support and facilitate instructional delivery
- Ability to teach in face-to-face, virtual, web, and hybrid formats
