We are in search of a Subject Matter Expert - Windows Automation Engineer to contribute to our team of skilled and diverse professionals.
This role will involve supporting the team and providing automation development assistance by crafting automation capabilities that ensure functionality and usability align with the organization's objectives, thus enabling delivery teams to perform their tasks effectively.
The engineer should possess a comprehensive understanding of Windows Server automation and typical application support linked to these platforms. This position will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of central IT infrastructure and applications.Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Deliver SME-level infrastructure management and automation support.
- Ensure the seamless operation of multi-user computer systems, coordinating with system engineers, project managers, end users, and IT management.
- Propose and implement system enhancements to boost performance and reliability, including installation, upgrades/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
- Evaluate new product releases to guarantee compatibility and minimize user disruption.
- Develop, maintain, document, and automate technical processes and procedures as necessary.
- Comply with stringent Information Systems security protocols at all times.
Proficiency in various programming languages, including Python, Perl, Ruby, PowerShell, or their equivalents is essential.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Additional experience may substitute for educational requirements.
- SME-level accountability for a specific technology, with secondary responsibility for another.
- Document current environments, SOPs, future directions, technical designs, change tickets, and other items for internal operations and external audits.
- Serve as the escalation point for team members and possess knowledge of all team technologies.
- Respond to requests from tier 2 operations teams to provide production fixes and root cause analysis. Participate in a pager rotation for 24x7 support.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server technologies is essential.
- Strong scripting experience in PowerShell or Ansible, particularly focused on automation.
- Familiarity with Change Management processes, including strong policies and approval chains.
- Demonstrate a robust engineering mindset throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proactively identify and enhance existing processes and practices within the environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and respond effectively under pressure.
- Contribute to team projects, lead demonstrations and presentations, and assist new engineers in learning established norms.
- Pursue continuous professional education and create opportunities for core product teams to learn engineering best practices.
- Achieve product commitments by utilizing informal leadership and highly developed communication skills, contributing to or leading technology communities.
- Employ automation, system tools, and open-source solutions in daily tasks.
- Communicate effectively with other team members.
- Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance - US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) and must not have traveled outside the US for a combined total of 6 months or more in the last 5 years.
- Must have resided in the US for the last 5 years.
Desired Skills:
- Extensive experience with AWX / Ansible Tower.
- Proficiency in various programming languages, including Python, Perl, Ruby, PowerShell, or their equivalents.
- Experience with container technologies, including Kubernetes and/or Docker.
- Solid understanding of modern operating systems and network technologies sufficient to automate related processes - Windows / SLES / RHEL.
- Integration of Git in continuous deployment.
- Strong experience with DevOps automation tools such as Docker and Ansible.
