Position Overview:
As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Exercise Physiologist will collaborate with patients to help them achieve their health and wellness objectives. This role involves designing and closely monitoring individualized programs, ensuring patient safety and tracking progress in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and enhance the cardiac rehabilitation program tailored to our patients' needs.
- Engage in the creation and support of external fitness and health initiatives.
- Communicate with patients in a professional and motivating manner.
- Foster a professional atmosphere that encourages patient involvement and commitment.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain strong relationships with patients.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of exercise equipment, demonstrating proper usage to patients.
Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will have at least one year of clinical experience in a cardiac rehabilitation setting, with a focus on wellness, communication, customer service, and the ability to lead by example. A commitment to a healthy lifestyle is essential, serving as a role model for both participants and staff.
Expertise in understanding the human body's metabolic responses to both short- and long-term physical activity is crucial for this role.
Advanced knowledge in exercise physiology, nutrition, risk factor modification strategies, counseling techniques, and behavior change programs is highly desirable. A passion for aiding patients in improving their health, coupled with effective communication skills, is vital. Candidates should demonstrate respect for the human body, possess motivational skills, and be able to instill confidence in patients during exercise.
Experience in cardiac rehabilitation is preferred, along with knowledge of exercise testing protocols, indications and contraindications of exercise, training techniques, and administration. EKG coursework and experience are advantageous. A strong desire to collaborate with a comprehensive healthcare team is necessary, along with a commitment to modeling a healthy lifestyle for participants and staff.
Education and Licensure:
A Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Recreation, Physiology, or a related field is required.
BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
ACSM Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) certification is preferred.
