Job Description

  • $120,000 - $180,000 per year salary based on experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering and 10+ years of experience in MEP. Strong leadership skills, experience in managing large-scale preconstruction efforts, and the ability to manage multiple estimating teams concurrently are essential.
  • The selected candidate will lead VDC coordination during preconstruction and ensure effective cost analysis and estimate coordination. They will also develop subcontractor bidding strategy, coordinate bid evaluation, and oversee solicitation and negotiation processes.
  • The successful candidate will prepare Exhibit 1 development process – scopes of work for all MEP subcontractors and assist in developing and training future MEP staff.
  • They will participate in interview preparation for negotiated bids, coordinate bid efforts, process RFI's, and interface between the bidding community.
  • The MEP Director will review project documents to understand risk elements and address them for evaluation. They will develop scope-gap matrixes to facilitate coordination between MEP trades and review project documents for cost-effectiveness and suggest value alternatives where applicable.
  • The selected candidate will participate in constructability and quality reviews, manage and define risks for the executive team, and prepare clarifications and assumptions for listed scopes of work for RFP submission.
  • They will perform comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects and prepare management presentations and develop an estimate basis.
  • The MEP Director will present final submissions to the Owner and A/E team for all related scopes of work and support regional ongoing projects as it relates to MEP scopes of work.
  • They will build relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and internal clients to maintain a good reputation for McCarthy and gain competitive advantage for future projects.
  • The selected candidate will collaborate with the Business Development team to build and maintain relationships with existing clients and represent McCarthy at industry events and maintain professional relationships within the industry.
  • They will establish and maintain relationships with internal McCarthy partners.
