Job Overview


The Surgical Imaging Specialist embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, adhering to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, while complying with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.


This role involves performing advanced radiologic procedures under the guidance of a licensed radiologist, generating critical information necessary for the diagnosis and treatment of both inpatients and outpatients.


Services are delivered in alignment with industry standards, departmental protocols, and hospital policies.


Key Responsibilities:
In addition to fulfilling the duties of a Staff Radiographer, the Surgical Imaging Specialist is responsible for:

  • Conducting all surgical-related radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging procedures.
  • Operating surgical equipment, including but not limited to portable units, C-Arms, and vascular imaging rooms.
  • Assisting with Lithotripsy surgical procedures as required.
  • Taking on additional responsibilities as designated by the Manager and Resource Coordinator.


Qualifications:
Required:

  • Valid State of Illinois, Department of Nuclear Safety license (IDNS).
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current CPR Certification (BLS).
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with others in high-pressure situations.
  • Physical capability to navigate the medical center campus and stand or walk for most of the shift.
  • Ability to lift or carry objects weighing 35-40 lbs, and assist in lifting and positioning patients, some of whom may exceed 300 lbs.
  • Proficiency in visually checking documents for accuracy, utilizing a keyboard for data entry, managing equipment, and examining specimens, images, or reports.


Work conditions may involve performing procedures where carelessness could lead to injury or exposure to potentially infectious materials, radioactive elements, or hazardous chemicals.


Preferred:

  • Baccalaureate degree in a relevant field.
