Job Summary

We are seeking a highly dedicated Social Worker to support the social-emotional needs of our scholars. The ideal candidate will have experience in urban education settings and a strong commitment to helping children succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Counsel students individually and in groups to address social-emotional needs
  • Complete diagnostic assessments to identify student need and make referrals as appropriate
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to determine the best setting to meet students' needs
  • Respond to classroom crises and assume a lead role in resolving them
  • Serve as a member of school-based teams to support scholars and provide confidential guidance to faculty and staff
  • Advocate for parents and families in need
  • Conduct home visits when necessary
  • Collaborate with outside agencies to share information and ensure seamless service delivery plans for students
Requirements
  • Master's or Doctorate in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field
  • Licensed or certified in the District of Columbia preferred
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience required; experience working as a school counselor or social worker in school-based settings, preferably urban or alternative school settings
  • Energetic, flexible, creative, and innovative individual who can develop strengths-based, student-centered support plans
  • Ability to collaborate with families, school staff, neighboring schools, and community
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, follow-through, and work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
