The Engineering Supervisor at Flowers Foods & Subsidiaries plays a crucial role in overseeing and directing subordinates to ensure the plant's facilities and equipment are well-maintained. This position requires strong leadership skills, with a focus on training new employees, enforcing safety protocols, and resolving equipment issues. The supervisor will collaborate closely with the Engineering Manager or Superintendent to achieve these goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure plant facility and equipment are maintained according to standards.
  • Assist Engineering Manager or Engineering Superintendent in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Plan, assign, and supervise work of Engineering Personnel on assigned shift.
  • Train new employees in accordance with established training programs and plant procedures.
  • Demonstrate procedures unique to plant operations.
  • Supervise and/or participate in the repair and maintenance of all plant machine and equipment.
  • Read, understand, and implement schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Maintain good employee relations.
  • Promote established safety programs and ensure safe operating procedures and monitor employee compliance.
  • Ensure that work areas are cleaned and organized during assigned shift.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.).
  • Perform other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible for reporting food safety issues.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of proven leadership or supervisory experience in industrial operations, maintenance, or utilities operations is preferred.
  • A demonstrated knowledge in Industrial Electrical wiring, motor control, PLC.
  • Equipment repair, Industrial Equipment installation, start-up, repair, etc.
  • Experience in the installation, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical equipment through troubleshooting required.
  • Electrical troubleshooting is desired.
  • Experience or knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC), and Networking devices a plus.
  • Allen Bradley experiences a plus.
  • Managing/overseeing a Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • SAP experience is a plus.

Essential Job Functions & Requirements:

Mobility:

  • Physically capable of rapid, unimpeded movement to all areas of the plant.
  • Able to climb fixed and portable ladders.
  • Able to crawl under and climb onto machinery and equipment.
  • Able to enter and exit confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift and hold up to 50 pounds from floor level to 48 inches.
  • Dexterity in fingers, arms, and hands enough to perform complex wiring, welding, and written communication.

Sensory:

  • Ability to view product for proper size and color.
  • Ability to distinguish color-coded equipment.
  • Vision enough to distinguish operating lights and panels on machinery and equipment.
  • Must be able to hear and identify audible alarm systems.
  • Must be able to hear and identify normal and abnormal equipment operating sounds.
  • Must be able to work in a 100 degree environment.

Communication:

  • Speech and hearing abilities that allow the individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English (in person and via telephone) and/or other language, in required.
  • Ability to generate written communication.
  • Ability to read and review written communication, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, etc.

Attendance:

  • Ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Other:
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and practice necessary safety procedures, signs, etc.
  • Must have ability to wear/use approved applicable safety equipment, as needed.

Desired Education:

  • Associate Degree in Electronics/Electrical Technology and/or equivalent formal training and work experience.
  • Completion of formal management skills training program.
