Mental Health Technician Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our per-diem team at Universal Health Services. As a member of our treatment team, you will play a critical role in supporting the recovery and well-being of patients with mental health needs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to residents, including assistance with daily living activities and monitoring of behavior.
  • Participate in group therapy sessions and lead activities designed to promote socialization and skill-building.
  • Evaluate and document residents' progress, including any changes in behavior or condition.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in psychology or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a MHT working with children, adolescents, and/or adults is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical requirements include extensive walking, standing, sitting, and climbing stairs, as well as lifting over 50 pounds.
