UPMC is seeking a dedicated Sleep Technologist for a full-time position.

Under the guidance of the lead technologist, the sleep technologist works closely with senior technologists and the medical director to deliver thorough assessments and treatments for sleep-related issues. This role encompasses both in-facility and remote sleep evaluations, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, patient care, and educational responsibilities. A registered sleep technologist is capable of executing all fundamental laboratory tasks, while a non-registered technologist is required to undergo training and achieve credentialing within 18 months of employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for sleep assessments by gathering and evaluating information tailored to their individual requirements.
  • Establish sleep studies, clarify procedures to patients, and apply necessary electrodes and sensors.
  • Conduct sleep procedures in accordance with established protocols and make appropriate modifications as needed.
  • Score sleep/wake cycles and produce precise reports.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and infection control standards.
  • Engage in effective communication with patients and colleagues, participating in required meetings and training sessions.
  • Preferred qualification includes graduation from an accredited polysomnography educational program.
  • Required to obtain sleep credentials within 18 months of employment.
  • A background in medical training and experience is essential.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Sleep credential must be obtained within 18 months of employment.
  • CPR certification in accordance with AHA standards is required within 30 days of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification is mandatory.
  • Certification as a Respiratory Therapy Technician or Registered Respiratory Therapist is required.
  • A clearance background check is necessary.
