We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Middle School Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to join our team at Corvian Community School.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Collaborate with parents/guardians, school administrators, and support staff to create personalized education plans for students with disabilities.
- Provide Direct Instruction and Support: Offer tailored instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in both inclusive and pull-out settings, ensuring access to the general education curriculum.
- Differentiate Instruction and Adapt Teaching Strategies: Utilize a variety of instructional materials, assistive technologies, and interventions to enhance student engagement and academic achievement.
- Conduct Ongoing Assessments and Record Progress: Regularly evaluate student progress and adjust instruction and support services accordingly, maintaining accurate records of student performance and growth.
- Collaborate with Colleagues and Support Staff: Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to supporting students' academic and social-emotional needs.
- Communicate with Parents/Guardians: Provide ongoing communication and support to parents/guardians regarding their child's progress, goals, and needs, facilitating partnerships between home and school.
- Stay Current on Best Practices and Evidence-Based Interventions: Engage in professional development and collaboration with colleagues to stay up-to-date on best practices in special education, relevant laws and regulations, and evidence-based interventions.
- Foster a Positive and Inclusive Classroom Environment: Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported in their learning journey.
- Knowledge of Special Education Laws and Regulations: Familiarity with special education laws, regulations, and best practices in assessment, instruction, and intervention.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in special education or related field, valid teaching certification/license in North Carolina (preferred), and previous teaching experience in a charter school or diverse educational setting.
- Autonomy and Support: Educators at Corvian Community School are treated as professionals and empowered with autonomy in the classroom, with administrators committed to supporting teachers in practical ways.
