We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at National Jewish Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing clinical support to our healthcare team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Support: Assist with preparing patients for examination, obtain patient medical history, and document results in appropriate systems.
- Chart Preparation: Review charts and prepare them for the following day as indicated.
- Supply Management: Stock patient care areas with necessary supplies.
- Clinical Skills: Perform clinical skills as guided by competency validation.
- Coordination: Coordinate with other clinics to ensure quality patient experience.
- Clinical Support: Assist with preparing patients for examination, obtain patient medical history, and document results in appropriate systems.
- Plan Implementation: Implement plan for each clinic ahead of time to identify and anticipate potential clinic flow problems.
- Communication: Coordinate telephone communication with patients, families, referring providers, and other members of the health team.
- Administrative Functions: Perform administrative functions to support clinic, including manual billing, error correction, data entry, and photocopying.
- Patient Education: Provide and document appropriate education to patients/families utilizing effective teaching skills.
- New Team Member Orientation: Precept and orient new team members to their function in clinic.
- Lab Procedures: Collect and correctly label lab specimens, prepare specimens for analysis, and perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) or other diagnostic tests as directed.
- Availability: Be available to work as scheduled and report to work on time.
- Teamwork: Be willing to accept supervision and work well with others.
- Professionalism: Be well-groomed, appropriately for your role, and wear ID Badge visibly.
- Compliance: Be in compliance with all departmental and institutional policies, the Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and completes NetLearning by due date annually.
- Workplace Culture: Fosters an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued and leveraged to achieve the vision and mission of the institution.
- Safety: Adheres to safe working practices and at all times follows all institutional and departmental safety policies and procedures.
- Education: High school diploma/GED and successful graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program.
- Certification: CPR/BLS required.
- Work Experience: Medical Assistant I: None. Medical Assistant II: Minimum of six (6) months experience as a Medical Assistant at National Jewish Health or one (1) year recent experience from a health care organization or medical office as a Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
