As a Construction Equipment Operator at Granite Construction Incorporated, you will play a vital part in safely and efficiently operating various heavy mobile equipment. This role involves working on construction projects to excavate, move, load, and grade earth, rock, gravel, and other materials.
Main Responsibilities:
• Safely operate heavy equipment in accordance with the company's safety policies and procedures.
• Perform various activities including road building, fine grading, finishing, sloping, banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, stockpiling, road surface maintenance, building and maintaining road berms, loading trucks, and trenching.
• Ensure operation of equipment is within capabilities and limitations.
• Perform required safety inspections and complete documentation.
• Maintain a clean and safe job site.
Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience are preferred.
Work Experience:
Prior experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment is required. Knowledge of earthwork, road, and highway construction is preferred.
Skill and Ability:
You must be able to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment. Ability to squat, crawl, and work in awkward positions/confined spaces is also necessary. You should have excellent hand-eye coordination, physical dexterity, stamina, and ability to grasp, assemble, and lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. or more.
