We are seeking an experienced Microwave Technician to support our fast-growing Data division in Mooresville, NC. As a trusted advisor for wireless communications, data, and security, you will be responsible for preparing, adjusting, and calibrating standard test apparatus or devices. Your duties will include analyzing and recording testing results, utilizing test equipment to conduct functional, operational, and environmental testing, and performing detailed RF test measurements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing, adjusting, and calibrating standard test apparatus or devices.
  • Analyzing and recording testing results.
  • Utilizing test equipment to conduct functional, operational, and environmental testing.
  • Performing detailed RF test measurements such as gain transfer, frequency response, noise figure, modulation, and return loss using manual and automated tests.
  • Understanding the operation of various types of test equipment such as Power Meters, Frequency Counters, and Spectrum/Network Analyzers.
  • Maintaining and establishing effective working relationships with other employees, contractors, and customers.

Requirements include:

  • 1-2 years experience in repairing and installing microwave radio systems.
  • Hands-on experience with project-specific OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers).
  • A strong technical electronics background, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to conduct failure analysis.
  • Knowledge of concepts, characteristics, capabilities, and theoretical design of microwave radio equipment.
  • Certified on Wavence or ALU 9500MPR Microwave Radios or be able to pass certification testing within 90 days of employment.
  • Understanding of two-way radio / cellular infrastructure communications products, services, and systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience with at least one of the following: public safety communications systems, cellular infrastructure, military communications, civil infrastructure construction.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules.

The physical environment requires the employee to work inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear; utilize personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to potentially hazardous materials, lift (overhead, waist level) from the floor, bending, frequently utilize near vision use for reading and computer use; be able to handle semi-frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular), frequently work in outdoor weather conditions, frequently move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, operate a motor vehicle, frequently position self to maintain computers or other equipment as needed.

On-call for critical systems maintenance may be required. First shift hours Monday – Friday, with occasional 2nd or 3rd shift and weekends depending on project schedules.

Travel as necessary to support company and customer needs.
