Senior Structural Engineer/Team Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead our team in Northern California. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing structural systems for buildings across various sectors, including Higher Education, K-12, Justice & Civic, Cultural and Performing Arts, and Mixed Use.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead a structural engineering team to produce high-quality construction documents using Revit.
  • Manage project schedules to meet deliverable requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and clients as part of our integrated design process.
  • Adapt to variations in building codes and construction practices while working on projects across the US.
  • Mentor entry-level staff and promote workflow and technical standards best-practices for our diverse multi-office practice.
  • Contribute to managing the operations, execution, and expectations for the Structural Engineering Discipline in California.
  • Partner with sector and practice leadership to perform all personnel functions such as selection, training, and evaluation of personnel.
  • Support business development initiatives by assisting the RFP process, participating in project interviews, and actively engaging in community and/or industry specific organizations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering; Masters degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of building-related structural engineering experience, including the design of concrete, masonry, steel, and wood/timber; gravity and lateral systems.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of California, Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) preferred.
  • Prior experience leading teams of engineers on projects.
  • Working knowledge of current structural software (ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, ADAPT, RISA, Enercalc).
  • Experience with BIM including Autodesk Revit workflow.
  • Goal-oriented with strong skills in problem-solving, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of commercial building materials, systems, and assemblies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for sustainable building design and SE2050 commitment.
