Job Summary

The Baltimore Police Department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aviation Law Enforcement Officer to join our team. As a Police Flight Officer, you will be responsible for operating a helicopter to assist law enforcement officers in the control and suppression of crime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a helicopter to conduct aerial surveillance and support law enforcement operations
  • Provide critical support to ground units during high-risk operations
  • Conduct search and rescue operations as needed
  • Participate in training and exercises to maintain and improve skills
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to share intelligence and best practices
Requirements
  • Valid FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Rotorcraft-Helicopter and Instrument-Helicopter rating
  • Current FAA Medical Certificate-Second Class or above
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Maryland Police Training Commission Certificate
  • Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or equivalent out-of-state driver's license
  • Minimum of 1,400 hours total flight time, with 800 hours as Pilot in Command and 700 hours in turbine helicopter
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in law enforcement or a related field
  • Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and protocols
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
