Job Summary

The Maryland Department of Transportation is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer II to join our team. As a Police Officer II, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, rules, and regulations governing the safety and protection of personnel and State property.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws, rules, and regulations to ensure public safety and protection of State property
  • Perform safety, patrol, and security duties in motor vehicles or on foot
  • Respond to disturbances and emergencies, and issue warnings or summons as necessary
  • Investigate accidents and criminal acts, and make arrests when necessary
  • Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions, and be required to bear firearms and demonstrate practical knowledge and proficiency in their safe use and care
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education
  • Six (6) months of experience as a certified law enforcement officer, with completion of all training components as required by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission
  • U.S. citizenship, and possession of a valid driver's license in the state of Maryland
  • Satisfactory background investigation, including a check of criminal history, and oral interview
  • Physical examination, and possession of a driver's license valid in the state of Maryland
