The Anderson School, our flagship initiative, caters to students aged 3-12 who face multiple disabilities, moderate to severe developmental delays, and complex medical challenges. Our school operates Monday through Friday, aligning with the academic calendar and observing all holidays and breaks. We seek candidates who can commit to working two to five days each week.

Position Overview

The Substitute Educational Support Assistant role is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to collaborate with a team of compassionate and skilled educators while gaining invaluable experience. This position is designed to provide coverage for regular staff as needed.

As a Substitute Educational Support Assistant, you will work closely with our special education teachers and therapists to implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and facilitate classroom activities. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment and supporting the physical and minimal health needs of our students, which may involve lifting, positioning, seating, feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance.

Key attributes for success in this role include creativity, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Candidates should be comfortable working collaboratively within a team, demonstrating both initiative and the ability to follow directions as necessary.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; training or coursework in special education is preferred.
  • Proven interest and ability to work with children aged 3 to 12 in a special education environment.
  • Experience with young children who have significant special needs is advantageous.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Physical capability to engage in active tasks, including sitting, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
