Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Claims Supervisor to lead our team of Claims Examiners and Claims Service Representatives in handling complex claims. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing teams and ensuring prompt, effective, and courteous handling of all claims to policyholders and claimants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and guide Claims Examiners and Claims Service Representatives to ensure proper claim handling and compliance with procedures.
  • Oversee the work product of outside vendors and contractors.
  • Evaluate property claims and provide guidance and settlement authority to property claims adjusters.
  • Conduct Open and Closed File Reviews to evaluate and document overall operational value.
  • Effectively manage loss, loss adjustment expense, and loss reserve for property claims.
  • Recognize complex claims and develop appropriate claims strategy and settlement solutions.
  • Research, review, and interpret policy language and state laws as necessary.
  • Manage and resolve special cases/problem claims. Evaluate claims and address policy coverage issues in excess of staff authority.
  • Assist in establishing policy and procedure for the department, developing strategic goals and objectives, and providing direction, support, and leadership.
  • Communicate effectively with agents, policyholders, Claims Unit personnel, Underwriting, Human Resources, Finance/Accounting, and Chief Claims Officer.
  • Build an effective and efficient team that delivers quality customer service on a consistent basis.
  • Provide leadership and growth goals for team members as well as working with teams to achieve company goals.
  • Other tasks and projects as may be assigned.
Essential Functions
  • Ability to supervise and provide guidance to Claims Examiners and Service Representatives in claim handling, performance, compliance, strategy, and settlement authority.
  • Ability to think critically, evaluate coverages, interpret insurance policies, and determine appropriate settlement strategies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal departments and direct reports, and external vendors, stakeholders, and policyholders.
  • Ability to identify and interpret complex, special, or large loss claims and determine the appropriate resolution strategy.
  • Ability to continuously monitor team performance, providing goals, evaluations, and disciplinary action as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Florida All Lines Adjuster License (620 License) required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or a combination of education and significant directly related experience.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience processing Homeowners claims, 2 years managing a Claims Team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, and exceptionally organized.
Working Conditions

This role operates in a professional office environment. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear, frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
