Job Description:
Locations: Philadelphia, New York City.
The Risk Management division is seeking a seasoned Large Casualty Executive Underwriter with an entrepreneurial mindset to cultivate a new territory. This individual will be tasked with developing and expanding a profitable portfolio of loss sensitive casualty business by fostering broker relationships, targeting key accounts, and creating underwriting programs in collaboration with actuarial and collateral teams. The role involves driving qualified business flow from targeted agencies. A strong background in loss sensitive casualty underwriting, particularly with deductible programs, is essential. Familiarity with intricate loss sensitive programs and collateral options is also necessary. This position is ideal for a production underwriter who thrives on client and broker engagement, celebrates successes, possesses excellent communication skills, has a robust market reputation, and collaborates effectively with colleagues to achieve synergy across various business units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve profitability, account retention, and written premium objectives set by the department.
- Make independent underwriting decisions while maintaining appropriate documentation.
- Engage in training to enhance knowledge of departmental products and services within Risk Management and across the C&F platform.
- Contribute to projects such as product development and workflow innovation.
- Demonstrate the ability to build and nurture relationships by managing assigned territory, agents, and accounts.
- Travel requirement: 20%.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of primary casualty underwriting experience, particularly in workers' compensation or equivalent training.
- Preferred continuing insurance industry designations (e.g., AINS, ARM, CPCU).
- Underwriting expertise in Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Automobile, and Auto Physical Damage.
- Established broker contacts in the Greater Philadelphia or NY Metro area to facilitate business development.
- Strong communication, analytical skills, and business acumen.
- High energy level to support the expansion of the Northeast territory.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, coupled with a commitment to integrity and ethical business practices.
