Job Title: DoD Financial Analyst

The Applied Research Associates (ARA) company is seeking a highly skilled DoD Financial Analyst to join their team. As a key member of the Analytical Solutions Division, this individual will provide expertise in planning, programming, budgeting, and execution activities.

This role involves interaction with Washington Headquarters Services and the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, Office of the Director of Business Operations. The ideal candidate will possess a sharp analytical mind, strong Excel skills, and multiple years of experience in accounting, financial management, and analysis, or a solid understanding of project management principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters in overseeing budget formulation and execution of the offices appropriated budget to meet and exceed Comptroller execution benchmarks.
  • Prepare Military Interdepartmental Purchase Requests, Interagency Agreements, Determination & Findings Packages associated with budget execution.
  • Participate in mid-year reviews; address unliquidated obligations; and monitor obligation and expenditure rates for Nuclear Matters Program Elements.
  • Prepare background material, attend, and record minutes for scheduled meetings.
Requirements:
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • An active Top-Secret security clearance and eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) are necessary.
  • A Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience in accounting, financial management, project management, or a combination of these fields are required.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Project, including basic schedule logic relationship management, and the incorporation of multiple source schedules, using embedded Microsoft Project analysis tools and interfacing multiple schedules.
  • Working knowledge and experience with coordination of plans, documents, reports, and databases.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize numerous assignments.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Minimum 3 years of DoD program experience relating to ACAT programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience within the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Defense Agencies Initiative financial management system.
