Purpose of the Position

The Chief Engineer will oversee and maintain the maintenance operations for the Hotel, ensuring the efficient functioning of refrigeration, heating, plumbing, heating and cooling plant operations, energy controls, and other systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC and be able to supervise a team of maintenance staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and inventory management.
  • Ensure that all maintenance work is performed in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance programs to prevent equipment failures and reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Housekeeping and Security, to ensure seamless operations.
  • Train and develop maintenance staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Monitor and report on maintenance metrics, including energy consumption and equipment performance.

Requirements:

  • Must have NYC FSD certification and a strong background in HVAC.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
