Mainframe CICS Programmer Role

CICS Mainframe Systems Developers design, implement, and maintain CICS systems on the mainframe z/OS platform. This role requires a strong understanding of CICS architecture, design, and connectivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement CICS systems, including configuration, installation, and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain CICS programs, including problem resolution and debugging.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of CICS systems with other mainframe platforms.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest CICS technologies, including CICS Transaction Server, CICS Plex System Manager, and VSAM RLS.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of CICS security, including keyring, certificates, and TLS.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of CICS connectivity, including LU6.2, MRO, ISC, CWS, Sockets, TCPIP, and EXCI.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration of CICS systems with other mainframe platforms.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of CICS architecture, including performance testing, monitoring, and operations.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure compliance with CICS architecture and design standards.

Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of CICS architecture, design, and connectivity.
  • Experience with CICS systems programming and problem resolution in a mainframe z/OS sysplexed operating system environment.
  • Knowledge of CICS security, including keyring, certificates, and TLS.
  • Knowledge of CICS connectivity, including LU6.2, MRO, ISC, CWS, Sockets, TCPIP, and EXCI.
  • Knowledge of CICS architecture, including performance testing, monitoring, and operations.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with clear communication.
  • Ability to collaborate with different roles to achieve common goals.
  • Hands-on experience performing CICS systems programming and problem resolution in a mainframe z/OS sysplexed operating system environment.
