About Us:
Briarcrest Veterinary Clinic is a dedicated small animal facility in West Houston, led by Dr. Larry White. Our practice provides comprehensive care for a diverse range of animals including dogs, cats, reptiles, exotics, rabbits, pocket pets, wildlife, and birds. The variety of species we care for ensures that each day is filled with unique challenges and experiences.

Role Overview:
As an essential member of our team, our technicians play a crucial role in fostering relationships with clients through effective communication during examinations, treatments, hospitalizations, and surgical procedures.

Daily Responsibilities:
A typical day involves:
  • Admitting patients for surgery
  • Treating hospitalized animals
  • Conducting in-clinic blood tests and preparing samples for external laboratories
  • Maintaining accurate file documentation and invoicing
  • Assisting with appointments and prescription fulfillment
  • Performing technician appointments and surgery preparation
  • Assisting in surgical procedures
  • Conducting dental cleanings
  • Following up with clients post-surgery
  • Managing inventory
Additionally, you will oversee the delegation of tasks to the technician's assistant and maintain clear communication with the practice manager.

Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates who possess:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in veterinary care
  • A high school diploma
  • Familiarity with basic veterinary medical terminology
  • The ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • The capacity to stand for extended periods
  • Proficiency in computer usage

Desired Skills:
Ideal candidates will have expertise in:
  • Venipuncture and catheterization
  • Anesthetic monitoring (both manual and electronic)
  • Surgical preparation and assistance
  • IV fluid administration and monitoring (including fluid pumps)
  • Dental cleaning
  • Digital radiography
  • Intubation
  • Injection administration
  • Oral medication administration
  • Nursing and patient monitoring
  • In-clinic laboratory procedures
  • Organizational and documentation skills
