Position Overview:

The Security Operations Major plays a pivotal role in upholding public safety by overseeing daily security functions within a correctional facility. This position is responsible for coordinating and evaluating the activities of security supervisors across all shifts to maintain a secure and efficient environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Direct and manage security operations to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
2. Provide leadership, mentorship, and disciplinary action to security staff as necessary.
3. Conduct regular inspections to verify adherence to security protocols and operational standards.
4. Collaborate with the Assistant Warden and Warden on strategic planning and the development of security measures.
5. Engage with various stakeholders, including institutional and regional management, to facilitate secure operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Valid Operator's License and DCJS Certification.
3. Extensive supervisory experience in corrections.
4. Proven experience as a DOC Watch Commander or Shift Commander.
5. Strong understanding of VADOC policies and procedures.

Additional Considerations:

1. LEAD Graduate or equivalent experience.
2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
3. Familiarity with Evidence-Based Practices.
