Position Summary
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire is a vibrant organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children through various programs. We are currently seeking compassionate and skilled individuals to join our out-of-school time initiative in Gorham. Our programs are designed to provide a secure and welcoming atmosphere that caters to the social-emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of young individuals.
Role Responsibilities
The Group Leader is responsible for crafting and executing age-appropriate programs and activities for school-aged children while ensuring their safety. The role emphasizes five key areas: Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, Health and Life Skills, the Arts, and Sports and Fitness.
Key Duties
Fostering Youth Success
1. Create an environment that encourages participation and achievement of Youth Development Outcomes by:
- Delivering engaging daily activities that align with established program standards.
- Assisting new members in understanding the Club's schedule and expectations.
- Providing guidance and constructive feedback to promote skill development.
- Demonstrating leadership by adhering to safety and licensing best practices.
- Maintaining accurate attendance records for all members.
- Overseeing the cleanliness and organization of program spaces.
Program Management and Oversight
2. Effectively administer programs and activities for members.
3. Monitor and assess programs to ensure safety, quality, and proper maintenance of facilities.
4. Continuously evaluate Club programs to ensure they meet the diverse needs of members.
5. Document any incidents or issues that arise during operations.
6. Communicate with relevant child care licensing authorities as necessary.
7. Participate in special events and staff training sessions.
8. Engage in staff meetings for ongoing professional development.
9. Maintain open communication with families, staff, and members.
10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years old with a minimum of 600 hours of experience in a school-age program.
- Documentation of at least 3 credits in child development, education, recreation, or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
- Knowledge of youth development principles.
- Ability to motivate and manage youth behavior effectively.
- Strong communication skills with parents and guardians.
- Capability to plan and implement quality youth programs.
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications to comply with licensing requirements.
- Occasional travel for training may be necessary.
- Must possess a valid driving record for potential transportation duties.
Additional Expectations
All candidates offered a position will undergo an FBI fingerprint background check and a state criminal records review. The organization maintains a zero-tolerance policy for abuse and mistreatment in its programs.
