Job Summary

USA Health is seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of related digital image management tasks, including mammography, breast ultrasound, and invasive procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Perform patient assessment and screening, including reviewing prior imaging and history, and consulting with radiologists or ordering practitioners as needed.
  • Document pertinent clinical and family history, and review patient's prior imaging and history.
  • Review CPOE and written orders, verifying information is accurate, appropriate, and complete, and consulting with healthcare providers as needed.
  • Perform visual breast exam based on patient communication, documenting location of lumps, scars, moles, breast changes, etc.
  • Select equipment appropriate to the patient and exam to be performed, and demonstrate proper positioning for screening, diagnostic, and/or invasive procedures.
  • Appropriately identify images according to ACR guidelines, and use appropriate exposure factors, target/filter combination, and AEC mode based upon breast tissue density, compressed thickness, and patient characteristics.
  • Provide radiation protection according to prescribed safety standards, and maintain aseptic or sterile technique, as appropriate, when performing biopsies, aspirations, or localizations.
  • Directly assist the performing clinician during invasive procedures, and recognize emergency situations and initiate code procedures as needed.
  • Accurately critique images to determine diagnostic quality and adjust factors if imaging is to be repeated, and review images and consult with MQSA qualified physician when pathology seen may require additional imaging.
  • Consult with MQSA qualified interpreting physician to review image quality and positioning, and establish corrective procedures as required.
  • Adhere to established protocols, QA guidelines, and regulatory requirements (MQSA, ACR), and perform or assist with the performance of accreditation requirements for the American College of Radiology (ACR).
  • Pleasantly greet patient, confirming identity using two identifiers and introducing oneself, and communicate and use appropriate customer relation skills with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team.
  • Completely explain examination procedure to the patient and family, if present, and perform visual preventive safety inspections of all equipment used and communicate problems to supervisor/assistant director/director.
  • Maintain necessary inventory of supplies, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items, and maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the department.
  • Complete all aspects of a patient's exam, including ensuring images are available for physician review on PACS in a timely manner, charging procedures and supplies, and protect patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and/or participating in professional societies, and complete all mandatory educational requirements in a timely manner.
  • May assist with training of Mammography students, and regular and prompt attendance, and ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, successful completion of an approved course in Radiologic Technology, one year of experience conducting routine diagnostic procedures, and completion of an approved program in advanced modality or one year of experience in advance modality.

A bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology may substitute for the required experience in conducting routine diagnostic procedures. Registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Diagnostic Radiology is required. Advanced registry is highly preferred, and may be required for certain modalities.
