Job SummaryWe're looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual to assist our anesthesiologists in the operating room. As an Anesthesia Technician/ORA, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment, preparing equipment, and supporting the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities- Perform room turnover between cases, following Universal Blood and Body Fluid (UBBF) precautions and utilizing Personal Protective Eyewear (PPE).
- Perform terminal cleaning of OR suites, following a predetermined schedule on a rotational basis using PPE and following UBBF Guidelines.
- Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and appearance of substerile rooms and scrub sink areas.
- Monitor the surgery schedule and watch par levels in supply and patient care areas.
- Communicate with Materials Management/Buyer regarding the need for additional supplies and assist in the restocking of those areas.
- Practice safe working methods and universal precautions, utilizing PPE to avoid injury to self and others.
- Be familiar with precautions and handle hazardous material in such a way to protect self and coworkers.
- Be familiar with the principles of Aseptic Technique and maintain a safe distance from the sterile field when performing job functions in the OR environment.
- Dons appropriate surgical attire within the semi-restricted and restricted areas of the OR, which includes surgical scrubs, hair covering, and masks where indicated.
- Understand traffic patterns and promote cost containment by utilizing equipment and supplies in a cost-effective manner.
- Assist in the safe transfer and transport of patients using proper body mechanics.
- Assist with patient positioning under the direction of an RN or Physician.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Provide anesthesiologist support as a physician extender and part of the patient care team.
- Be familiar with anesthesia machines and be responsible for maintaining proper working order of the machines.
- Perform any other duties assigned.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent is required.
- One year of EVS experience is required.
- Healthcare industry experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of floor cleaning equipment is helpful.
- Good organizational skills.
- Pleasant disposition.
- Professional demeanor in patient communications.
This role requires standing and walking for extended periods of time, exposure to a variety of environmental elements, and cleaning product odors.
Physical and Mental DemandsThis role requires lifting, pushing, and pulling of approximately 50 lbs.
