Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team at Houston Methodist Hospital. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing polysomnographic procedures, including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free.
  • Establish and document baseline values, routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, position changes, and other significant events.
  • Verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process.
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment, make adjustments as necessary, and perform routine and complex equipment care and maintenance.
  • Implement appropriate interventions during the study, involving others as needed to ensure quality outcomes.
Requirements
  • Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section.
  • One year experience in a Sleep Disorders laboratory/center preferred.
  • RPSGT - Registered Polysomnographer Technologist (BRPT) or RRT-SDS - Registered Respiratory Therapist Sleep Disorder Specialty (NBRC) certification required.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) certification required.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The Polysomnographic Technologist must be able to work independently and exercise judgment in interactions with physicians, interprofessional care team, and patients and their families.
