About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Instrument Craftsman to join our team at Bausch + Lomb. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for creating high-quality surgical instruments that meet the highest standards of precision and craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities
  • File, bend, braze, stamp, grind, and polish to create handheld surgical instruments.
  • Utilize a microscope to inspect and assemble instruments.
  • Learn and apply new techniques and skills to the manufacturing of surgical instruments within standard times.
  • Complete each level in the 5-year apprenticeship program.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Hand metal working experience.
  • Ability to visualize shapes.
  • Assessment will be required.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written manufacturing procedures.
  • Previous experience preferred from other shops that provide surgical instruments.
  • Previous experience as a watch maker, gunsmith, or jeweler preferable, but not required.
  • Any previous experience using hand tools such as pliers, hammers, or files.
  • Excellent manual dexterity.

Pay Rates

1st 6 months: $18.00/hr.

2nd 6 months: $18.60/hr.

3rd 6 months: $19.02/hr.

Career progression continues up to top Journeyman pay at $34.88/hr.
