Job Title: Oracle Weblogic Server Administrator Consultant

Location: Remote with occasional on-site work in New York, NY

Contract Duration: 5 years

Job Summary:

The Oracle Weblogic Server Administrator Consultant will provide technical expertise in managing, maintaining, and supporting Oracle Weblogic Servers on Red Hat Linux v8 and Windows 2019/2022 Server environments. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in Red Hat Linux and experience working with Windows.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks within Oracle Weblogic Servers to ensure smooth and responsive application performance for end-users.
  • Automation and Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages like bash and WLST for automation tasks.
  • Backup and Recovery Strategy: Develop a comprehensive backup and recovery strategy to safeguard critical data, enable rapid recovery in case of failures, and conduct periodic recovery drills.
  • Monitoring and Alerts: Work with the IT team to set up proactive monitoring using tools to track database health, resource usage, and other vital parameters.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain up-to-date documentation outlining server configurations, security protocols, recovery procedures, and overall infrastructure architecture.
  • Capacity Planning: Analyze historical usage patterns and forecast future resource requirements to facilitate informed decisions about scaling the infrastructure.
  • Incident Response and Problem Resolution: Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for escalated incidents and complex problems.
  • Patching and Maintenance: Install patches and upgrade Java on a quarterly basis, coordinating with the IT team and other stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • Software updates/upgrades and patching.
  • Deployment and management of applications on WebLogic Server.
  • Performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Security administration and implementation of best practices.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., WLST, Jython, Bash) for automation tasks.
Desirable Certifications:
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) - Oracle WebLogic Server 12c.
  • Oracle WebLogic Server 12c: Administration I and II certifications.
