Position Overview:
The Lead Engineer for Compression Aerodynamics will be an integral part of the Commercial Fan & Compressor Aerodynamics team. This role involves the aerodynamic design and testing of fans, boosters, and high-pressure compressors, along with other related components. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including airframe manufacturers and global partners, to assess the aerodynamic performance of gas turbine engine components and commercial aviation propulsion systems. Additionally, you will contribute to advanced programs and legacy products.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
- Conduct aerodynamic analysis, design, testing, and integration functions to support components and systems that align with business objectives.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) studies, including geometry modifications, meshing, solver execution, and result interpretation.
- Utilize and enhance in-house engineering tools for aerodynamic evaluations.
- Plan and execute testing programs to meet technical requirements within established timelines and budgets.
- Document and communicate aerodynamic design, analysis, and testing outcomes.
- Facilitate the sharing of engineering insights and promote open communication.
- Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects in accordance with engineering standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on compression aerodynamics.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in turbomachinery.
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in aerodynamic design, CFD, or testing support for engines or aircraft.
- Familiarity with CAD software and CFD tools.
- A demonstrated passion for the aviation sector.
- Strong motivation and excellent communication skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
