About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Civil/Structural Engineer III to join our Energy practice. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing transmission and distribution projects, with a focus on electrical substation and transmission line design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop transmission and distribution projects, including electrical substation and transmission line design
  • Prepare overhead line design using PLS-CADD
  • Design transmission and distribution line structural (steel and wood) using PLS-Tower and/or PLS-Pole
  • Design transmission line foundation using MFAD and L-Pile
  • Design substation support structures and foundation
  • Design underground high voltage transmission line and/or low & medium voltage distribution lines
  • Perform seismic design for substation assets
  • Develop comprehensive understanding of civil/structural engineering and basic understanding of other engineering disciplines
  • Provide technical guidance to a modest sized group of engineers, designers, and specialists
  • Prepare and execute civil/structural project scope
  • Check and review the work sequence, general content and the methods used to generate specifications for the calculations as well as the approval, revision, retention and storage of calculations
  • Oversee the review and checking of construction and vendor drawings
  • Review interdisciplinary vendor documents
  • Assist with the developing task and effort estimates for proposal support
  • Understand and assist with the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks within the civil/structural discipline
  • Work to maintain positive working relationships with peers
  • Occasional travel required to other AECOM locations and Client sites
  • Able to participate in field walks and create field sketches, take dimensions, climb ladders, etc. as necessary
