Job Responsibilities

The HVAC Instructor plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality Career and Technical Education within the specified trade area. This position involves guiding students to achieve the necessary competencies in HVAC, managing classroom or laboratory settings effectively, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining up-to-date student records.

Essential Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: A minimum of two years of full-time or 2000 hours of verifiable experience in the HVAC field within the last five years is necessary for obtaining a teaching certificate.

Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of HVAC; capability to supervise adult learners in both classroom and lab environments.

Licensure: Candidates must be eligible for a Journeyman or Master Electrician License or a Technical Professional License in Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning, or a relevant field issued by DPOR. Eligibility for a teaching certificate from the Department of Education is also required.

Additional Considerations

Experience in managing correctional education environments is preferred. Candidates should be able to support fellow instructors and possess knowledge of institutional policies related to correctional education. A minimum of five years of experience in the HVAC field is desirable. Holding a Journeyman or Master Electrician License or a Technical Professional License in HVAC is essential, along with a valid teaching certificate from the Department of Education. The ability to supervise adult inmates in a classroom/lab setting within a correctional facility is crucial.
