This unit specializes in providing care to a diverse population of critically ill patients with complex medical needs. Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess patient needs, plan and implement individualized interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness. Involve patients and families in care planning and maintain therapeutic relationships throughout the healthcare continuum.
  • Recognize significant changes in patient conditions and respond appropriately, adjusting care plans as necessary while collaborating with the healthcare team.
  • Implement strategies to enhance patient safety and assess readiness to learn, tailoring educational approaches to meet patient and family needs.
  • Coordinate discharge planning using an interdisciplinary approach and apply evidence-based practices in patient care delivery.
  • Evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action when necessary to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution skills, promoting collaboration among team members.
  • Foster a culture of safety by identifying and addressing potential threats to patient safety.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance departmental functions and patient care experiences.
  • Participate in professional development activities that contribute to personal growth and the development of others.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, adapting assessments and interventions to meet the specific needs of patients across the lifespan.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice, and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Education and Experience:
  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Accepting applications from Graduate Nurses, Newly Licensed Nurses, and Experienced Nurses.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to provide holistic patient care with a focus on patient and family perspectives.
  • Proficient in recognizing situational changes requiring timely interventions.
  • Strong computer skills, including electronic medical records systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with patients and team members.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective collaboration and team-building skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, walking, and bending throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Position may require exposure to chemicals, hazardous waste, and communicable diseases.
  • Must possess functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch for performing clinical procedures.
