About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Failure Analysis Engineer to join our team at SPECTRAFORCE. As a key member of our Failure Analysis Team, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth failure analyses and root cause investigations to identify and resolve complex technical issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Failure Analysis and Root Cause Investigation: Perform hands-on failure analysis and root cause investigation using advanced analytical tools and techniques to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with HW Reliability, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Design teams to identify root causes and drive resolution for failures originating in product development, production, and in the field.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain a comprehensive RCA repository database, write detailed failure analysis reports, and deliver presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Demonstrate competence with the operation and application of standard failure analysis tools and lab equipment, and evaluate and introduce new equipment and techniques to the failure analysis flow.
  • Process Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the failure analysis process.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in physics, materials science, or engineering (metallurgical) or related field with 5+ years of failure analysis experience.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with materials sample preparation and understanding of a variety of materials characterization techniques (SEM, FTIR, CT/X-Ray, XRF analyzer, profilometers, etc.) and fundamental failure analysis methodology.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information in a simple and concise manner.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Education: Master's or Ph.D. in materials science or metallurgical engineering.
  • Additional Experience: 5+ years of proven experience in a failure analysis role, with prior experience using failure analysis laboratory equipment and techniques.
