Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and compassionate Midwife to join our team at Gotham Health. As a Midwife, you will provide antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, neonatal, inter-conceptional, and gynecological care to women and newborns, in accordance with written midwifery protocols. You will work under the general supervision of Midwifery Services and direction of the OB/GYN Division, with some latitude for the exercise of independent judgment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive health care to women and newborns, including prenatal, intrapartal, postpartal, neonatal, and inter-conceptional/gynecological care.
- Establish a complete database concerning the patient through history taking, physical examination, and laboratory data.
- Assess the status of the patient, develop, and implement a plan of care with the patient during the prenatal, intrapartal, postpartal, neonatal, and inter-conceptional/gynecological periods.
- Provide guidance and education for patients and families concerning health maintenance, admission, and discharge, and labor management.
- Manage labor, including delivery of the newborn, utilizing medication and performing procedures.
- Provide immediate and follow-up care of the newborn infant, including ongoing assessment and follow-up with the postpartal family.
- Seek medical consultation for patients with deviations and document in the medical record.
- Perform ongoing review of care, including evaluation and documentation in the medical record.
- Provide contraceptive guidance and evaluation and treatment for minor gynecological conditions.
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Licensure as a Midwife by the New York State Department of Education.
- Two years of clinical experience in midwifery practice.
