Position Summary:
The primary function of the Asset Protection Lead is to educate, train, and oversee personnel in identifying and mitigating theft of company assets. This role involves coaching Asset Protection and Loss Prevention staff on apprehension techniques while supporting the store's mission to deliver exceptional customer service in a secure environment, thereby maximizing sales and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, train, and mentor Asset Protection and Loss Prevention personnel in theft detection and prevention strategies.
- Design and implement initiatives aimed at reducing theft among customers and employees.
- Participate in both initial orientation and ongoing training regarding surveillance, alarm systems, and related technologies.
- Address incidents involving customers and associates to provide first aid and reduce company liability.
- Recover stolen items and apprehend individuals committing theft or other criminal acts against the company.
- Investigate criminal activities affecting customers or associates occurring on company premises.
- Prepare detailed reports concerning theft incidents, merchandise recoveries, accident investigations, and other assigned activities.
- Maintain expert knowledge of and adhere strictly to legal and company policies regarding apprehensions, searches, and evidence preservation.
- Complete all required security training and maintain necessary certifications as mandated by law.
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with merchandise exposure standards and asset protection protocols.
- Establish and nurture relationships with local law enforcement to enhance coordination on potential criminal cases.
- Provide testimony in court regarding any cases where the company is involved, as required.
- Engage in special assignments, investigations, and surveillance as directed by the Store AP/LP Manager.
- Respond to alarm situations at the assigned location.
- Perform additional duties as necessary.
- Exhibit regular, reliable attendance and punctuality.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
- Resourceful and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Occasional need to reach above eye level, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Capability to apprehend shoplifters as necessary.
- Ability to spend long periods in surveillance areas.
- Frequent lifting/moving of items up to 30 lbs.
