Job Title: Medical Weight Management Specialist

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a Medical Weight Management Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with our obesity medicine specialists and support staff to provide high-quality care to our patients.

About the Role:
  • Perform history and physical examinations of patients.
  • Provide cost-effective, high-quality care based on best practice evidence-based medicine.
  • Make best efforts to adhere to standardized orders and practice guidelines approved by the medical staff.
  • Demonstrate competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development, and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
  • Provide regular, timely, and appropriate communication with referring physicians, patients, and their families.
  • Participate in education of patients and their families.
  • Evaluate and implement patient healthcare needs.
  • Perform routine exams and obtain patient histories.
  • Manage patient treatment programs based on assessment of needs.
  • Initiate treatment via prescriptions, diagnostic tests, exams, and procedures.
  • Review lab results and plan actions according to results.
  • Perform routine health maintenance activities for new and established patients.
  • Coordinate patient care and make referrals to physicians, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, etc., as needed.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other professionals, nurses, physicians, and outside agencies regarding patient care.
  • Coordinate patient care and family counseling with public and mental health agencies as appropriate.
  • Teach wellness habits and educate patients on prevention of potential health problems or method of dealing with present problems.
  • Maintain knowledge of current medical practices and skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information.
  • Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient, and environmental safety and follow appropriate reporting requirements.
