Job Title: Aviation Maintenance Pathway Teacher

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aviation Maintenance Pathway Teacher to join our team at Purpose Built Schools Atlanta.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Aviation Technology courses to students, fostering relationships with program partners, managing industry volunteers, and maintaining program facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Foster relationships with program partners (TangoFlight and Delta) to provide students with opportunities for knowledge and experience.
  • Manage industry volunteers to support the aviation program.
  • Teach Aviation Technology courses to students, ensuring they gain appropriate knowledge and skills about the industry.
  • Maintain program facilities and equipment to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Adhere to all state guidelines required for the implementation of a successful program.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, school, and county leadership.
  • Account for student attendance and punctuality.
  • Follow all county, state, and federal policies and procedures.
  • Follow professional ethics in all work-related activities.
  • Attend school and District-level professional learning activities as directed.
  • Prepare adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent.
  • Seek and maintain professional learning opportunities through State endorsed professional organizations.
  • Facilitate home-school communication by holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications.
  • Integrate appropriate technology into classroom instruction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
Qualifications
  • Must hold or be eligible for valid Aviation certification from GaPSC Trades at GaPSC; Areas of Specialization: (D) Aviation; Section 2.Flight Operations (Options 1, 2, 3 or 4).
  • Minimum of 2 years of occupational work experience in the field required.
  • Classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds.
  • Available for face-to-face instruction within the school building with students present.
  • Pass a GBI Criminal Background Check.
  • Must relate well to students and inspire the love of learning.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow directives.
  • Skilled in teaching diverse students.

  • Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods.

  • Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use hands and fingers to feel, grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
  • Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis. Incumbent may be required to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict.
  • Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.
  • Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgment and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records.
