Job Title: Plating Process Engineer

At Amtec Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Plating Process Engineer to join our Quality team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and analyzing chemical and process control tests in our lab.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the functional performance of our aerospace plating line, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Perform hands-on surface finishing operations to troubleshoot, research, and develop new processing lines.
  • Solve and/or participate in the solution of issues related to plating processes, documentation, and quality problems.
  • Mentor personnel in the proper setup and processes required for cleaning and chemical processing.
  • Help manage waste streams and effectively treat and store hazardous waste.
  • Ensure required chemical solution testing is performed according to established schedules.
  • Perform process control tests (periodic test panels, etc.) according to established schedules.
  • Maintain control of laboratory documentation.
  • Review and implement chemical process testing in accordance with industry standards.
  • Maintain chemical processing trend analysis.
  • Participate in environmental reporting as required.
  • Maintain preparation standardization of lab solutions.
  • Responsible for ordering lab supplies and maintaining inventory.
  • Responsible for calibration equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Participate in process improvement efforts.
  • Work closely with supervisors and employees throughout the facility.
  • Review and implement quality assurance requirements.
Requirements:
  • 5-8 years of experience in managing a metallic plating line's performance.
  • BS/BA in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or other similar science.
  • Basic wet chemistry skills, titrations, analytical skills, and spectroscopy experience.
  • Data collection and interpretation experience.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and as a team, while supporting internal and external customers.
  • Ability to adapt precedents and traditional approaches to develop solutions to complex problems.
  • Able to work without appreciable direction.
  • May lead functional or project teams and provide training and mentorship to other employees.
  • NADCAP Auditee experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft office products.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
  • May work in an office environment but will spend much time on the factory floor. May be exposed to dirt, heat, sparks, noise, fumes, and dust.
  • Office work includes working at computer workstations.
  • Factory floor work may require movement of materials in handling containers and carts.
