Job Summary

THOR Solutions, LLC is seeking a highly motivated Marine Mechanical Engineer to support the United States Coast Guard's Ship Design Team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with design, optimization, and integration of marine auxiliary and piping systems, ship machinery integration, cargo handling systems, and/or weight handling systems calculations and analyses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and documentation for the design, development, and evaluation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, including auxiliary systems, hydraulics, weight handling equipment, rudders, piping, pumps, valves, and HVAC.
  • Develop system documentation and ship specifications.
  • Conduct analysis and design of auxiliary systems, lead development of technical data packages and reviews.
  • Conduct trade studies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant technical, engineering, or a marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in Marine Mechanical fields, including experience with design, optimization, and integration of marine auxiliary and piping systems, ship machinery integration, cargo handling systems, and/or weight handling systems calculations and analyses.
  • Experience related to U.S. Federal or commercial ship or boat building acquisition programs preferred.
  • Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs preferred.
  • Familiarity with ABS, USN, and industry standards relating to shipboard auxiliary systems.
  • Proficient with common productivity software.
  • Strong communications skills.
