Job Overview
The City of Broken Arrow is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated professional to manage and oversee employee benefits programs. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that the benefits offerings align with organizational goals and effectively support our workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with HR personnel to identify and address challenges in attracting and retaining a diverse and talented workforce through competitive benefits.
- Work closely with insurance brokers and third-party administrators to develop a comprehensive benefits package.
- Assess the effectiveness of current benefits programs, ensuring they meet market standards and organizational objectives.
- Administer a variety of employee benefits, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans; manage claims, enrollments, and terminations.
- Stay informed on industry trends and compliance regulations, providing recommendations for policy updates as necessary.
- Contribute to the design and communication of benefits and leave of absence programs.
- Process benefit changes related to new hires, life events, and terminations; ensure accurate and timely paperwork submission.
- Maintain comprehensive records of benefits and conduct regular audits to verify accuracy.
- Provide guidance to employees regarding benefits eligibility and provisions, addressing any inquiries or concerns.
- Ensure timely management of benefit-related contracts and communication of any changes to employees.
- Verify monthly premium statements and maintain relevant statistical data.
- Develop and distribute materials related to employee benefits, including open enrollment resources and wellness program information.
- Act as a liaison with external benefit vendors to meet employee and organizational needs.
- Organize orientation sessions for new employees to explain benefits and assist with required documentation.
- Coordinate wellness initiatives, including health fairs and benefit meetings.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including the Affordable Care Act and other applicable laws.
- Prepare necessary annual forms and ensure their accuracy.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required, along with two to three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid Driver's License issued by the State of Oklahoma is also required.
Physical Requirements
This position requires moderate physical effort, including tasks that may involve lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds. Extended periods at a workstation may be necessary.
